My friend, Angie, challenged me to try out the layering stamps from Altenew. I have only one set and it had not seen ink yet. Challenge accepted! Now, I don't have any of the Altenew inks. Altenew sells their inks in groupings of 4 colors from light to dark, which are made specifically for these layering stamps. I have Stampin' Up! inks. So I first tried some blues: Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Pretty Peacock. The flower ended up looking like a blue/green cabbage! Then I tried yellows: So Saffron, Pineapple Punch, Daffodil Delight, and Crushed Curry. At least that one looked like a flower! My pink try actually made it onto a card! Petal Pink, Blushing Bride and 2 layers of Rococo Rose. Yay!! I love it! The stamp set is called Just For You. I used Mossy Meadow for my cardstock and the pink layer is from the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper. I used an Avery Elle wonky die to cut the pink layer and the banner. The word YOU is from a My Favorite Things die called Miss You. Hope you like my card!Connie Hobbshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10844420113612821034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589783823135953032.post-81281458087248331262019-07-27T17:09:00.001-04:002019-07-27T17:09:41.320-04:00Cape Cod Hydrangeas<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I recently returned from a trip to New England. Everywhere you looked, the hydrangeas were in full bloom and such gorgeous colors of blue/purple. I had to try to capture that memory with my new stamp set, Beautiful Friendship, by Stampin' Up! I stamped the flowers in Seaside Spray and the leaves in Granny Apple Green. A simple "thanks" done in Memento black is from the set called Here's A Card. A little bit of hand doodling finished it off. Hope you like my card!Connie Hobbshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10844420113612821034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589783823135953032.post-58529138140844857332018-01-22T20:20:00.000-05:002018-01-22T20:20:27.313-05:00You’re Amazing<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I made this card for my oldest granddaughter who is receiving an award at school for being "Responsible". I am unable to go to the award ceremony, but her mom will make sure the card gets to her on that day. I am so proud of her!!</div>

Of course, I agreed! But I really didn't know what I was going to do. Turns out, the card ideas just kept coming. As soon as I would make one, I'd get an idea for another. I used the SAB Designer Paper called Wildflower Fields in order to make the board have a cohesive feeling. So most of my cards are Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Calypso Coral and Lost Lagoon. Here is a picture of me with my board:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaloG2SGXTDFdqxGNgxFuHytTgelJ9HGkj5ZRi2eFG_FlxMqqeY8l8xJ8hhmN7bigQaQX_rzZLMtXxy2i3ErtAyoucPi1er5LWy-eA4MxNiHZO1NVaCTlj_FQaDL9BYJko5d0qmsu4pNMV/s1600/File+Feb+13%252C+5+35+25+PM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="299" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaloG2SGXTDFdqxGNgxFuHytTgelJ9HGkj5ZRi2eFG_FlxMqqeY8l8xJ8hhmN7bigQaQX_rzZLMtXxy2i3ErtAyoucPi1er5LWy-eA4MxNiHZO1NVaCTlj_FQaDL9BYJko5d0qmsu4pNMV/s320/File+Feb+13%252C+5+35+25+PM.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I thought I would show three of the display cards here for you. The first uses the sentiment from "You're So Lovely" from the 2016 Occasions Catalog, "Trust me, you're lovely". I'm not sure when I would ever put that on a card to a friend, but I used it for this one! The background is also stamped with one of the stamps from Timeless Textures, another new favorite.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3RZEwXgRt67EZDwy-Pi0nUxDru7t9_SySzPIbBhLqVWyunj9iRKRIQGz7oWrGwnBW5ICd7z7g_Cst27feKSI1UbdSoYZK8eShXAP_WY0n4tfo2HnhgM012kwHW0viONioVLLVO6hQWevI/s1600/File+Feb+13%252C+5+44+26+PM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3RZEwXgRt67EZDwy-Pi0nUxDru7t9_SySzPIbBhLqVWyunj9iRKRIQGz7oWrGwnBW5ICd7z7g_Cst27feKSI1UbdSoYZK8eShXAP_WY0n4tfo2HnhgM012kwHW0viONioVLLVO6hQWevI/s320/File+Feb+13%252C+5+44+26+PM.jpeg" width="248" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next card is color-blocked with the Wildflower Fields DSP. I added the little cross stitch marks by hand with a black marker. The sentiment on this one comes from Birthday Blooms, another Occasions set. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuJdgu_X0qwpiRRoqs3aMoYCM9TxomleTnnNxAgn5PfDyl8llIbZwuR5IdyuZ4DYX7xDuQv1xAkdFhDAmy62gPei8JohAlUeJb8_wCFKdvwWMpjyjE1VnJ63sAXHKoXJCxDnsfMITKJKiG/s1600/File+Feb+13%252C+5+43+31+PM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuJdgu_X0qwpiRRoqs3aMoYCM9TxomleTnnNxAgn5PfDyl8llIbZwuR5IdyuZ4DYX7xDuQv1xAkdFhDAmy62gPei8JohAlUeJb8_wCFKdvwWMpjyjE1VnJ63sAXHKoXJCxDnsfMITKJKiG/s320/File+Feb+13%252C+5+43+31+PM.jpeg" width="245" /></a></div>
<div>
And finally, here is the third card that I will share today. It is a notecard size (3" x 5") and definitely one of my favorites! I used the flower and leaves from What I Love and combined it with a background stamp from Timeless Textures. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLKxf_zt6bZgOk7m7bxiSmgAd73DG7r8e8WCo-iGJZtK3e0wzPjOoD1JgbV1NmqZsYRfEPxDouIYlJdcQfiH2mFUKaFVfJykoSKiEX0PjUft067ylHQ_MRO6bq3fltDrO83vpkdhZCkBrF/s1600/File+Feb+13%252C+5+43+03+PM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLKxf_zt6bZgOk7m7bxiSmgAd73DG7r8e8WCo-iGJZtK3e0wzPjOoD1JgbV1NmqZsYRfEPxDouIYlJdcQfiH2mFUKaFVfJykoSKiEX0PjUft067ylHQ_MRO6bq3fltDrO83vpkdhZCkBrF/s320/File+Feb+13%252C+5+43+03+PM.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So that's it for today. Tomorrow I will share some cards that I have been working on using the Botanical Gardens suite from the Occasions catalog. They are so colorful you may need your sunglasses!</div>

Aren't they adorable? These were so easy to make, too. Stampin' Up sends everything you need in one easy kit to make 24 of these adorable pinwheels. You get 24 pre-cut pieces of double sided designer paper (8 each of 3 different patterns), 24 straws, 24 brads and even the cute flags are included! I stamped mine with a saying from one of the demonstrator stamp sets, but this Paper Pumpkin kit comes with 3 photopolymer stamps: "party", "celebrate" and a row of 5 stars. You also get a package of glue dots, a hank of Basic Gray baker's twine, 24 cellophane bags, 24 silver clips. In case you were thinking, "what would I do with 24 pinwheels?", let me just assure you that you could use the materials in this kit to make some very cute cards, gift bags with bows or pinwheels or even use these things to adorn your scrapbook pages. Then I ran the remaining piece of DSP through the Decorative Dots embossing folder before adhering it to my card front. I used the same embossing folder and edgelit. However, I used a stamp from the Perfect Pennants stamp set for my card. I wanted to use my new Fresh Prints paper from the 2014 Occasions catalog, but I'm also still thinking Christmas. I decided to make this card for my husband using the 3.5 x 5 note cards. The sentiment comes from Christmas Messages, one of the best sentiment stamp sets I've ever seen. The tag is left over from the Holiday Catalog's Real Red Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit. I don't own the Chevron Border Punch, but it only took a few clips with my snips to turn that Coastal Cabana card stock into a fun adornment. Three Coastal Cabana Boutique Details finish the sketch. First thing this morning I assembled the stamp sets and I couldn't wait to put together my first card. This is a loose case of a card by Justin Krieger. I copied his idea to punch out the flowers instead of trying to cut them exactly. The DSP is called Sweet Sorbet and the flower stamps are called Petal Parade and both of those will be available as Sale-A-Bration freebies between January 28th and March 31st next year. The sentiment is from the Occasions catalog, called Simply Celebrate. Shortly after that one of my friends brought a snack to my house accompanied by these colorful napkins. I just had to give the technique a try! I think they came out pretty good! For this card I used a 4 x 4 piece of Whisper White card stock. I put a small piece of cling wrap over that, with the pretty paper napkin on top. Cover with a piece of scrap and press it with a medium iron. The cling wrap melts and holds the layers together. Then I trimmed the excess about 1/2 inch from the Whisper White, added some snail adhesive and wrapped the excess to the back side! Background done!</div>Connie Hobbshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10844420113612821034noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589783823135953032.post-47568204833462933352013-08-25T15:49:00.001-04:002013-08-25T15:49:01.060-04:00Sweater Weather Thanks<div><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3io3KfvFhySIozFeLzQUNn9-HYO_aAnwe1a4rB6uIvQmkvrsUjRy3ThaxF2Mvt89q-Ox77UMi5BrxYB9JiKF_wQt3L6EvCvPrzCBE09lREqJMSv5Oiotf_Cgla_j14CDIN9vOecbSotTK/s640/blogger-image-579694078.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3io3KfvFhySIozFeLzQUNn9-HYO_aAnwe1a4rB6uIvQmkvrsUjRy3ThaxF2Mvt89q-Ox77UMi5BrxYB9JiKF_wQt3L6EvCvPrzCBE09lREqJMSv5Oiotf_Cgla_j14CDIN9vOecbSotTK/s640/blogger-image-579694078.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 191 was my inspiration for this card. I knew right away that I wanted to use the leaf from Wonderfall so I started from there. I cut the circle with the Circles Collection Framelits. I tested the Washi Tape directly to the Sweater Weather DSP but you could see through it, so I decided to mount the Washi tape onto a strip of Whisper White card stock first. Even then, the beige Washi was too blah so I added some doodling. Then while the Chocolate Chip marker was still out I decided to add doodling to the circle also. Various colored Candy Dots completed the accessories. I stamped sentiments from Lots of Thanks to the front and inside as well. I hope you like my card.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Connie</div>Connie Hobbshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10844420113612821034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589783823135953032.post-49900862032516128052013-07-27T19:47:00.001-04:002013-07-29T05:17:12.630-04:00Warm Wishes<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0_UHaPofYmrjciyi2idl09tpvofLTtWWOqZj-C0IswVFk1omZg94DtxJ6q0cfOBRAQaS-vDwxzyy0m5ku6yDxTw_f8XVXvS2ThclNr4qrpiCvuaW2x2NRvIqNLVXBLGuam9y-wIXbQfp/s640/blogger-image--868148734.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq0_UHaPofYmrjciyi2idl09tpvofLTtWWOqZj-C0IswVFk1omZg94DtxJ6q0cfOBRAQaS-vDwxzyy0m5ku6yDxTw_f8XVXvS2ThclNr4qrpiCvuaW2x2NRvIqNLVXBLGuam9y-wIXbQfp/s640/blogger-image--868148734.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So I needed a Christmas card done in non-traditional colors and I had received the Winter Frost DSP, the silver 1/8" ribbon and the Remembering Christmas stamp set as my Prize Patrol gift at the SU convention, so I figured that was perfect for my card! The new Smoky Slate is very silver in tone so it is perfect to go with this DSP. I accented the layers with Island Indigo for a little "pop". I hope you like my card!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Connie</div><br></div>Connie Hobbshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10844420113612821034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589783823135953032.post-32947826830449599942013-07-26T21:55:00.001-04:002013-07-26T21:55:26.758-04:00Thanks, so much<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoUKzu5Y_YOc6OpB3TBio_NR7jBvA21xRZAgdl5mKKkJhDJtpb2QXB427y1N7MeLNNaYvB2PSu78AUM5-VzFC4WlmDVl5ukeOdU-_XC29jPXskoC2TPXcnHo39ATEKCUUEjSBC48t3lRhk/s640/blogger-image--1036406514.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoUKzu5Y_YOc6OpB3TBio_NR7jBvA21xRZAgdl5mKKkJhDJtpb2QXB427y1N7MeLNNaYvB2PSu78AUM5-VzFC4WlmDVl5ukeOdU-_XC29jPXskoC2TPXcnHo39ATEKCUUEjSBC48t3lRhk/s640/blogger-image--1036406514.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">My SU upline posted a sketch challenge yesterday for our Facebook group. I really like the combination of Summer Starfruit and Coastal Cabana. The stamp set is called Kind & Cozy. At first I didn't like the sentiment done in black, but after I added some other black doodles, I think it all tied together. I hope you like my card.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Connie</div>Connie Hobbshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10844420113612821034noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589783823135953032.post-32241364860257871692013-07-02T17:51:00.001-04:002013-07-02T17:51:52.962-04:00Baker's Twine Birthday<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNiedA1CHrbu3YUwmp49rJA1yohxGfGdmbRQPka7eaJBZQkdIeETz4ifTmPFHlOI1VZRysCtSNakaapKyhCXYlqJTRq2s1Vq1BWxk8n5hvgNqnq7EMcLlwy6diG2fhWYMzkaTBjCG8I08t/s640/blogger-image--1078699223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNiedA1CHrbu3YUwmp49rJA1yohxGfGdmbRQPka7eaJBZQkdIeETz4ifTmPFHlOI1VZRysCtSNakaapKyhCXYlqJTRq2s1Vq1BWxk8n5hvgNqnq7EMcLlwy6diG2fhWYMzkaTBjCG8I08t/s640/blogger-image--1078699223.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I just love this stamped flower from the Flower Shop stamp set. It reminds me of one of the first stamp sets that I ever got with SU called All Natural. Do you remember that one? It had a pear, a leaf, an acorn and a Thank You sentiment. But I loved the flower. That's why when I saw this string flower on Pinterest (meridianroad.blogspot.ca) I just knew I had to make one to use on a card with the stamped flowers. I hope you like my card.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Connie</div>Connie Hobbshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10844420113612821034noreply@blogger.com0
